INFINITI has recognized a Canadian student for his engineering prowess. Matthew Kemp, an engineering student from Calgary was recently named the 2019 INFINITI Engineering Academy Competition winner, giving him a career boost like no other.
The 20-year-old will begin this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in January 2020, when he moves to the United Kingdom to work at the Renault F1® Team’s Technical Centre for six months and at INFINITI’s European Technical Centre for another six months. Travel, accommodation, access to a company car, and a competitive salary will also be included in the prize package — not to mention the chance to work with world-leading engineers.
He earned this recognition after being selected by a panel of judges from INFINITI, Renault F1® Team, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, and Harvard University. Kemp beat out nine other finalists and hundreds of applicants from around Canada to earn this opportunity.
The INFINITI Engineering Academy looks for engineering talent around the world to work across automotive and Formula One™. With 50% of past winners of this program securing full-time roles at either INFINITI or with F1® following their placement, this program is considered the most successful recruitment initiative of its kind. This is the fourth year in a row that the Academy has recruited student engineers in Canada.
INFINITI Downtown is always proud to support these students who are making amazing efforts in the engineering industry.
